Priorities for Ward 4
Over the past eight years, it has been an honour to serve as your Ward 4 Town Councillor. Listening to residents, responding to concerns, and delivering meaningful results have always been at the heart of my work. If re-elected, I will continue to focus on the priorities that matter most to our community—keeping our neighbourhoods safe, strengthening community connections, communicating openly and accessibly, and ensuring responsible financial stewardship.
Safe and Welcoming Communities
As a parent and lifelong resident of our growing community, I understand that safety is fundamental to our quality of life. I believe every resident has the right to feel safe in their neighbourhood and throughout our community. That is why I remain committed to working proactively with residents, community partners, and York Regional Police to implement practical solutions that make Ward 4 an even safer place to live, work, and raise a family.
My priorities include:
Initiating neighbourhood safety audits and community safety walks with residents.
Installing additional stop signs where warranted through resident engagement and traffic reviews.
Continuing to mobilize two dedicated speed display boards in locations identified by Ward 4 residents to address speeding concerns throughout our neighbourhoods.
Working with York Regional Police to increase neighbourhood patrols in response to community concerns.
Launching Community Safety Forums where residents can learn about local safety initiatives, crime prevention strategies, and ask questions.
Creating a Ward 4 Civic Engagement Committee to ensure residents have a direct voice in neighbourhood priorities and local decision-making.
Supporting the development of a Neighbourhood Watch Program to strengthen communication and community involvement.
Working collaboratively with the Community Safety Circle to address emerging safety issues and identify proactive solutions.
Advocating for traffic improvements, including the advanced left-turn signal at London Road and Yonge Street.
Utilizing temporary traffic-calming bollards in collaboration with Ward 4 residents to help reduce speeding and improve road safety where appropriate.
Continuing to improve lighting along trails, parks, and walkways to enhance safety and accessibility.
Increasing pedestrian safety by upgrading the crosswalk markings and improving the alignment at the intersection of George Street and Kingston Road.
Improving pedestrian safety by modifying traffic signal timing at the intersections of Main Street North & London Road and Davis Drive & Longford Drive to provide safer crossing opportunities.
Partnering with York Regional Police to promote safe driving initiatives that educate motorists, encourage responsible driving behaviour, and improve safety on Ward 4 streets.
My Commitment
Everyone deserves to feel safe where they live. I will continue working with residents, York Regional Police, and community partners to implement practical solutions that enhance safety and ensure Ward 4 remains one of the best places in Newmarket to live, work, and raise a family.
Healthy & Connected Communities
A healthy community is one where people of all ages and ethnicities feel connected, active, and supported. I believe that investing in parks, recreation, green spaces, housing, and community events strengthens neighbourhoods, improves quality of life, and creates opportunities for residents to connect with one another. I will continue working to build a vibrant Ward 4 where everyone can thrive.
My priorities include:
Supporting the development of a new Ward 4 Community Garden that promotes neighbourhood connections, food security, lifelong learning, and community pride.
Continuing the Annual Ward 4 Community Clean-Up Event, providing free waste disposal opportunities for residents.
Hosting Ward 4 Community BBQs and community organization engagement festivities
Supporting neighbourhood street parties while working to simplify the approval process.
Completing the Proctor Park Sports Pad featuring pickleball and basketball courts.
Continuing the popular Moonlight Movies community engagement event.
Installing shade canopies in Ward 4 parks to provide comfortable gathering spaces and protection from the sun.
Activating parks and public spaces with new programming, community events and amenities.
Working closely with local community organizations, including the North Newmarket Lions Club, SIMA, the Newmarket Group of Artists and many more.
Promoting healthy, active living by supporting programs, activities, and events for seniors.
Supporting the London & Main Community Garden and the York Region Food Network.
Supporting affordable housing and a range of housing options that meet the needs of residents at every stage of life.
Increasing tree planting throughout Ward 4 to enhance our urban forest, improve air quality, expand shade, and create a healthier environment for future generations.
Strengthening partnerships with local school parent councils.
My Commitment
Strong neighbourhoods are built when people have places to gather, opportunities to connect, and amenities that support healthy living. I will continue investing in initiatives that strengthen our community and enhance the quality of life for residents of all ages.
Accessible & Responsive Communication
Strong communities are built on open, honest, and accessible communication. I believe residents deserve a councillor who listens, responds promptly, and keeps them informed. My commitment is to remain approachable, transparent, and available through a variety of communication channels so every resident has the opportunity to ask questions, share ideas, and stay connected to what's happening in Ward 4.
My priorities include:
Continuing to respond to the concerns of Ward 4 residents, recognizing that timely communication is essential to resolving issues quickly and effectively.
Holding regular Ward 4 community meetings to provide updates on neighbourhood projects, Town initiatives, and upcoming opportunities.
Holding special neighbourhood meetings to address specific local concerns and ensure residents have a direct voice in important decisions.
